Stanhope Parish Council
Stanhope is a suburb of Ashford in Kent, South East England. The estate was built in the 1960's on the southern edge of Ashford.
As of the 2001 UK census, the Stanhope electoral ward had a population of 3,276.
At the present time Stanhope is under going a regeneration project, which has been planned and developed since 1999. This multi million PFI (Private Finance Initiative) will change the look of the estate.
Stanhope Parish Council was formed nearly twenty years ago, being a spin off from Kingsnorth Parish; those in the community wanted local representation. The Parish Council works for the community by:
- running and maintaining a Parish Hall which provides a base for local clubs and a local venue.
- on the behalf of the community provides views on planning applications and other proposals that affect the parish.
- undertakes projects and schemes that benefit local residents.
- works in partnership with other bodies to achieve benefits for the parish.
- alerts relevant authorities to problems that arise or work that needs to be undertaken.
